국제갤러리 칸디다 회퍼 작가는 일민미술관에서 개최된 대규모 그룹전에 참여한다. 20세기 초에서 동시대에 이르는 국내외 작가들의 다양한 작업과 연구 아카이브를 아우르는 본 전시에는 오늘날의 현대성을 돌아볼 수 있도록 인문학적 상상력을 자극하는 국내외 37개 팀의 작업 50여 점이 소개된다. 칸디다 회퍼는 뉴욕의 미국 자연사박물관, 파리 케브랑리박물관, 베를린 민족학 박물관 등에서 촬영한 실험실과 박물관 작품 5점을 선보인다. 해당 전시는 2010년 벨기에 엔트워프 엑스트라시티에서 시작되어 지금까지 유럽, 미주, 아시아의 주요 미술 기관에서 개최된 바 있으며 이후 레바논 베이루트에 있는 동시대 예술 센터 아쉬칼알완에서 이어질 예정이다.

Kukje Gallery is pleased to announce Candida Höfer’s participation in a group exhibition Animism at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Seoul. Bringing together a diverse body of work by international artists from the early twentieth century together with the museums own research archive, this show includes over 50 pieces by a total of 37 artists and teams from around the world whose work inspires the humanistic imagination to the re-examine today’s modern condition through the concept of animism. Candida Höfer presents a series of works photographed at such places as the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the Musée du quai Branly in Paris and the Ethonologisches Museum in Berlin that deal with the laboratory and the museum. Animism at Ilmin Museum is the seventh iteration of the exhibition and overall research project presented at Extra City and MuHKA, Antwerp, 2010; Kunsthalle Bern, 2010; Generali Foundation, Vienna, 2011; the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, 2012; e-flux, New York, 2012; OCAT Shenzhen, China, 2013, and Ashkal Alwan, Beirut, Lebanon in 2014.
