국제갤러리 소속작가인 SASA[44], 김소라, 김홍석, 우순옥 작가 등은 2011년 8월 9일 (구)서울역사의 원형복원 개관과 2012년 3월 문화역서울 284의 공식출범의 <카운트다운> 프로젝트에 참여한다. <카운트다운>은 (구)서울역사가 21세기를 향한 생활문화 생산의 발원지로 재탄생 할 수 있는가를 질문하며, 문화재와 동시대 문화의 생산적 공존을 모색한다. 첫 카운트다운은 2011년 8월 복원개관과 함께 시작되며 6개월 동안 단계적으로 전개되다가 2012년 2월 종료되며, 카운트다운의 종료와 함께 문화역서울 284의 본격적 공존을 가동시키게 된다.


프로젝트 구성
(구)서울역사의 복원된 물리적 장소 속에서 시간여행을 가능하게 하는 전 장르의 창작프로젝트들로 구성된다. <카운트다운>은 8월9일 오프닝을 기점으로 6개월 동안 총 35명의 현대예술작가들의 프로젝트가 (구)서울역사 공간 전체에 점진적으로 추가된다. <카운트다운> 프로젝트에서 소개되는 예술작품들은 원형과 변형, 과거/현재/미래, 인류와 문화의 이동과 교류의 매개체이며, 관객에게 과거와 함께 미래를 여행할 수 있는 특이한 경로를 제안한다.



Culture Station Seoul 284 (Former Seoul Station)

Since its opening in 1925, the former Seoul Station (Historical Site No. 284, designated on September 25, 1981) had been a hub of migration and exchange between the Korean people for about a century, playing a key role in the dramatic changes that occurred in their lives. The building is currently having its original form restored and, when completed, will turn its historic position in the background of Korea’s economic growth and change in daily life to a venue for Korea’s future-oriented culture and creativity.

a project celebrating the opening of the Former Seoul Station, will take place for six months from August 9, 2011. The full-fledged operation of Old Seoul Station Building as a multifunctional culture space will start from March 2012.
