Koo Bohnchang participates in the group exhibition (Extra)Ordinary: Koo Bohnchang, William Yang and George Rose at the Korean Cultural Centre Gallery in Sydney, Australia, from June 24 to August 19, 2016. Inspired by Australian photographer George Rose who captured Korea in 1904, Korean Koo Bohnchang and Australian William Yang illustrate correlating moments in each other’s country in their photographs through a cross-cultural gaze. The different perspectives on Australia from Koo and Korea from Yang are well expressed in their works reflecting the extraordinary moments in ordinary life. Koo Bohnchang, by the connection made when supervising the publication of George Rose’s Korea through Australian eyes in 2004, decided to participate in this exhibition and presents stereograms, images taken by a camera featuring two lenses which expose two film frames giving the impression of a 3D image when looked at with a stereo viewfinder.
