국제갤러리 함경아의 작품이 런던 빅토리아&알버트 박물관에 소장된다. 함경아의 대표적인 자수회화 연작 중 하나인 <Needling Whisper, Needle Country / SMS Series in Camouflage / Big Smile R01-01-01>은 전 세계의 시대와 양식을 망라하는 미술 공예품을 수집해 온 빅토리아&알버트 박물관의 새로운 컬렉션으로 포함되었다. <SMS 시리즈>는 짧고 간결한 문자메시지로 의사소통하는 현대인들의 모습을 빗대어, 북한으로 보내는 자수 도안에 도안에 단어를 숨겨 미술작업을 북한 노동자들에게 간단한 메시지를 전달하는 매개체로 활용한 작업이다. 함경아의 작품은 추후 예정된 상설전과 기획전을 통해 대중들에게 소개될 예정이다.

Kyungah Ham’s artwork will be displayed at London’s famed Victoria and Albert Museum. A work from the artist’s representative embroidery series, Needling Whisper, Needle Country / SMS Series in Camouflage / Big Smile R01-01-01 (hereafter referred to as SMS Series), will join the permanent collection of the museum, which boasts an extensive and international assemblage of arts and craftwork from all historical periods. The SMS Series is a project that refers to the modern man, who communicates via short and simple text messages. These artworks contain short memos concealed in embroidery designs sent to North Korea, and they are utilized as a medium to impart simple messages to North Korean laborers. Kyungah Ham’s piece will be introduced to the public through a permanent exhibition and future special exhibitions.
