프랑스 파리 퐁피두 센터가 지난해 열린 양혜규의 동명제목 개인전에서 선보인 <좀처럼 가시지 않는 누스>를 소장품으로 확정했다. 초록색과 연보라색의 블라인드 200여 개로 이루어진 <좀처럼 가시지 않는 누스>는 2016년 퐁피두 센터의 누구나 접근이 가능한 포럼 공간에 설치되어 선보인 바 있다. 퐁피두 센터가 소품이 아닌 대형 블라인드 설치작을 소장품으로 결정한 이례적인 상황은 작가 양혜규의 작품성과 국제 현대 미술계 내 자리매김을 반증한다. 올 10월에는 《좀처럼 가시지 않는 누스》전과 연계하여 작가의 블라인드 대표작을 총망라한 동명의 도록을 프랑스 레프레스뒤레엘(Les presses du réel)출판사와 퐁피두 센터가 공동 발간하였다.

Haegue Yang’s Lingering Nous (2016) has joined the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where the work was showcased in a solo exhibition of the same title last year. Consisting of almost 200 Venetian blinds in iridescent green and purple, Lingering Nous was installed in the Forum of the Centre Pompidou in 2016, a unique physical and social space within the institution accessible to public. Particularly noteworthy is the institution’s decision to acquire a large-scale blind installation instead of a smaller piece—a testament to Haegue Yang’s reputation as an artist and esteemed status in the global contemporary art scene. In conjunction with Yang’s exhibition last year, the publishing company Les presses du réel and the Centre Pompidou have co-published a catalogue titled Lingering Nous in October of 2017, surveying the artist’s major blind installation works to date.
