Anish Kapoor is the subject of the solo exhibition Anish Kapoor. Untrue Unreal at Palazzo Strozzi, a historic Renaissance palace in Florence, Italy. Spanning from early to recent works, the exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the artist's practice, featuring works made with various materials, including pigment, stone, steel, wax, and silicone, which are carved, polished, and formed to dissolve the boundaries between the material and the immaterial.

Among the works on view are Svayambhu (2007), in which a giant block of blood-red wax slowly moves along its track between two rooms, creating a dialectic between void and matter; and Endless Column (1992), a red column-shaped work that references Constantin Brancusi's iconic modernist sculpture of the same title from 1937. At the center of the courtyard stands Void Pavilion VII (2023), a large-scale pavilion specifically conceived for this show, enriching the rational geometric structure of the Renaissance building.

Also on view are Non-Object Black (2015) and Gathering Clouds (2014), both coated in the artist's signature black color. Filled with total darkness yet paradoxically appearing as empty space, these works question the notion of presence and absence, suggesting a different perspective on viewers’ perceptions of nothingness and immersing them to directly experience the ‘Untrue’ and the ‘Unreal.’ The exhibition continues through February 4, 2024.
